The Master's programme aims to equip students with extensive fundamental knowledge which puts graduates in a position to apply this knowledge in practice, research or teaching and to expand upon it constantly. It revolves around the teaching of subject-specific and social competences, skills and methods of working scientifically and, in particular, equipping students for leadership tasks.
Due to rapidly developing knowledge in mechanical engineering, part of this is also the acquisition of extended expertise for diverse fields of work and specialisation. On the Master’s programme, this relates to activities focused on the fields of
- product development,
- product testing and
- innovative manufacturing technologies.
Degree course content
The programme is divided into core and advanced study modules and non-technical integration modules and also includes a Master's thesis and colloquium.
In the advanced modules, the following fields of concentration can be chosen:
- Developing, calculating and simulating or
- production methods and production systems.
In semester 3, students complete a Master's thesis on the basis of a scientific project, which is normally tackled in the context of current research themes.
Admission to the Master‘s programme Mechanical Engineering requires a good or excellent university degree (minimum grade 2,5 in German grading system) completed over a standard course duration of at least 7 semesters or at least 210 credits in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or strongly related fields. Applicants who cannot meet the requirement for 210 credits but can provide evidence of at least 180 credits will be checked individually.
