It examines the roles of institutional trust, political attitudes, and civic involvement, and draws on historical documents to show how center-right actors have often downplayed right-wing extremist threats. This highlights how partisanship shapes institutional responses to extremism, with important implications for understanding and countering far-right movements in Germany today.
