Programme objectives

StREaM is an interdisciplinary, international Bachelor’s programme that combines engineering and economics, with a special focus on sustainability as an overlapping theme. On the one hand, students acquire basic knowledge in engineering and in economics. On the other hand, they know and understand the principles of sustainable development as well as its importance for the economy and industry, the environment and to society.

Students acquire skills and competencies that allow them to do the following:

• identify and analyse problems that intersect engineering and economics, and work with others to develop solutions to these problems

• plan, carry out and evaluate sustainability projects, while taking into account engineering, economic, ecological, societal and cultural perspectives

• communicate, collaborate and cooperate successfully within interdisciplinary and intercultural contexts, also while using digital tools

• reflect upon their development of personal competencies and continually improve themselves

Admission requirements

Higher education entrance qualification

An entrance qualification for the German higher education system is a general prerequisite for admittance to the programme of study.

The DAAD database on admission requirements allows international students to check whether they meet the requirements for the degree programme of their choice in Germany.

Required English language knowledge

The language of instruction is English. Evidence of English language knowledge must be provided at Level B2 or above according to the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR). Evidence of the necessary English language skills can be provided in the form of:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), iBT 72-94 points
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System), points 5.0
  • telc B2 – Certificate
  • UNIcert II
  • Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
  • equivalent tests

In the case of university entrance qualifications from Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or the United States or a degree programme completed there, no additional evidence of English language skills is required. The same applies to any other degree programme completed in the English language.

Decisions on individual cases will be made by the Board of Examiners.

Preparatory college

If you establish that university entrance is not possible with your certificate, you can contact a preparatory college ("Studienkolleg").

Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences does not have its own preparatory college. The state-run preparatory college responsible for our institution is located at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen. It specifically prepares foreign applicants for a course of studies in Germany.

In Magdeburg you can find a private preparatory college: Europäisches Studienkolleg der Wirtschaft (ESKW)

The following courses are possible: T-course,  TI-course, W-course, WW-course

Application via uni-assist with international educational qualifications

All those who have acquired their educational qualifications abroad, please apply via uni-assist. As a service for all German universities, uni-assist carries out the expert checking of all admission requirements. Once it is established that the application fulfils all of the admission criteria, it is forwarded to us. Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences then makes the final decision concerning admission.
The application period is in November.

Job opportunities exist, e. g., in industrial and service companies as well as in the public sector – and generally in any sector where skills are needed to make production and product design processes more sustainable and to use and manage resources and energies in a responsible way.

Their interdisciplinary academic education allows StREaM graduates to work in positions that require an understanding of both technology and economics, e. g., in the fields of product distribution, product development as well as in quality and environmental management. Another field of activity is consulting.

International applicants and all those who have acquired their educational qualifications abroad, please apply via uni-assist till 30. November. You can apply from 26. October for summer semester 2024.
