Programme objectives

The objective of the programme is to acquire a sound base of knowledge and skills in the field of electrical engineering. Students acquire skills in the areas of power engineering, automation technology and communications technology.

In addition to sharing up-to-date content and trends, there is a particular focus on teaching basic concepts, methods and approaches based on in-depth knowledge. Students will need to successfully deal with demanding tasks at a high level in their subsequent careers. The aim, therefore, is to develop skills that enable graduates to familiarise themselves with new areas quickly, independently and systematically, to organise tasks, find solutions and present the results convincingly and competently.

Degree course content

The programme is based on the fundamentals of mathematics and physics in the context of electrical engineering. Essential concepts in automation technology, power engineering and communications technology are taught across the modules in different types of classes (lectures, seminars, etc.) and in conjunction with practical potential applications. It is possible for students to focus on one of the three areas by tailoring their choice of modules accordingly to acquire deeper knowledge of a specific aspect.

Students receive two semesters of teaching before undertaking a Master's thesis for one semester. The Master's thesis can be completed at the university or in industry.
