Programme objectives
The Master’s programme in Interaction Design is aimed at students in various professions who actively want to work on the design and integration of new information and communications technologies into the man-made environment.
Graduates with a Master's degree in Interaction Design are able to conceive intuitive user scenarios for complex industrial products and to realise these in a multidisciplinary team. Interaction Design places the user and user scenarios at the centre of conceptual development.
Degree course content
The Master's programme focuses on interdisciplinary work and is therefore available both to graduates with a Bachelor's degree or Diplom in Design and to graduates from other faculties who have convincingly proven their interest and ability in interaction design. Suitable undergraduate degrees include programmes with a basis in artistic and design aspects, engineering programmes such as electrical engineering, computer sciences or computer visualisation, and humanities programmes such as psychology, education or media studies.
The "Interaction Design" Master's programme enhances knowledge on how to design interactive environments between humans and computer-based systems. Depending on previous education, students can put together a complementary programme with courses in fundamentals of design, technology and methodology.
The range of design courses on offer are rounded out by specially selected classes in electrical engineering and from the field of social sciences.
An instructional cooperation with the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg and cooperation projects with companies help to round out the practically oriented programme.
Admission requirements
Admission to the Master‘s programme requires a good university degree completed over a standard course duration of at least 7 semesters or at least 210 credits. Applicants who cannot meet the requirement for 210 credits but can provide evidence of at least 180 credits will be checked individually.
