Programme objectives
The Master’s programme in Journalism qualifies you to undertake demanding journalistic roles
in radio, television, print and online. Through its two specialisms, “International Conflicts”
and “Social Issues and Health”, the programmeconveys not only journalistic skills and in-depth
knowledge about the professional field of Journalism, but also fundamental knowledge of the
two political and social subject areas. Students select their area of specialism at the start of the
programme. Alongside the emphasis on subject area, the course will provide you with the necessary
skills for a journalistic career ranging from research to editorial management.
Admission requirements
Admission to the Master‘s programme Jousnalism requires a good or excellent university degree (minimum grade 2,5 in German grading system) completed over a standard course duration of at least 6 semesters or at least 180 credits
- in the field of journalism or strongly related fields or
- in the field of social sciences with professional experience in the field of journalism or with proven journalistic competence
The language of instruction is German. Foreign applicants must prove they have adequate knowledge of German. Evidence of the necessary German language skills can be provided in the form of:
- Goethe Certificate C2
- DSH II
- DSD II
- TestDaF (minimun 16 total points & minimun level 3 in the examination modules)
- ÖSD C2
- TELC Deutsch C1 Hochschule
In addition, evidence must be provided of knowledge of the English language to level B2 of the Common European Framework.
