Programme objectives

The objective of the programme is to acquire thorough expertise and the ability to work independently in accordance with scientific methods, to master the varied demands of professional life in applied practice, research or teaching, and to deal effectively with the frequently changing tasks that arise in the working world. Professional expertise is built in the field of water management. Graduates acquire expertise in the areas of hydrology, biotechnology, water supply, hydraulic engineering, wastewater engineering and waste management as well as other adjacent integral fields of academic knowledge.

Admission requirements

Admission to the Master‘s programme Water Management requires a good or excellent university degree (minimum grade 2,5 in German grading system) completed over a standard course duration of at least 7 semesters or at least 210 credits in the field of Water Management, Civil Engineering or strongly related fields. Applicants who cannot meet the requirement for 210 credits but can provide evidence of at least 180 credits will be checked individually.

Please note, that the language of instruction is German. Foreign applicants must prove they have adequate knowledge of German. Evidence of the necessary German language skills can be provided in the form of:

  • Goethe Certificate C1
  • DSH I
  • DSD II
  • TestDaF (minimun level 3 in all examination modules)
  • ÖSD C1
  • TELC Deutsch C1 Hochschule

In addition, evidence must be provided of knowledge of the English language to level B2 of the Common European Framework.
