Internship Abroad in Spain
Personally, my stay in Spain was a very valuable experience. The three and a half months helped me develop further, gain new perspectives and reflect more deeply on my own aspirations. I was able to get to know the culture, the people and everyday life there, and it encouraged me to step further out of my comfort zone. Despite my strong connection to home, doing the internship was the right decision and strengthened my desire to gain more international experience in the future.
Internship: During my internship abroad, I had both positive and challenging experiences. The internship placement was not particularly accommodating in terms of organisation. Nevertheless, I learned from the negative experiences and was able to draw personal benefit from them. In general, such situations can be managed well if you enjoy the work and the environment is at least partly supportive.
For this reason, I particularly appreciated the time after work to explore the city and gather new impressions. In hindsight, I would recommend thoroughly researching the internship placement in advance to fully enjoy the time abroad.
In my experience, it is a good sign when the organisation requests a personal interview via Zoom beforehand to get a better impression. Mostly, these institutions are more interested in the well-being of their interns. Additionally, I consider it important to clearly agree on key conditions early on in order to protect yourself.
Internship Abroad in Greece
I spent seven months in Greece doing my internship abroad, which was an experience that shaped me both professionally and personally. After submitting my online application and completing a digital interview, I began a period there that I wouldn't want to have missed. I was at a kindergarten for a total of 20 weeks where I was actively involved in everyday life and supported the children in their daily activities. For one whole week, I even had the opportunity to take on the role of group leader.
What I remember most are the many encounters, the proximity to the promenade and the sea, the beautiful sunsets, and the numerous cats that enriched my stay in their own unique way. This experience showed me how valuable it is to rediscover familiar countries from a new perspective-not only as travel destinations, but as places to live.
Internship Abroad in Denmark
Earlier this year, I completed a two-month internship at the University of Copenhagen. During my internship, I gained valuable insights into developmental psychology research. I was part of a project investigating memory processes in children and assisted the team with tasks such as conducting tests, analyzing data, and coding video recordings.
What I found particularly exciting was working directly with the children and participating in regular team meetings where we discussed scientific studies together. The work environment was very open and supportive, which allowed me to quickly integrate into the international team. In addition to gaining professional skills, I also benefited greatly from my time abroad on a personal level. I found life in Copenhagen and interacting with people from different cultures to be very inspiring.
Copenhagen is also a beautiful and vibrant city with plenty of opportunities, especially for sports activities. It's easy to meet new people through these kinds of activities. I especially enjoyed the active lifestyle there; cyclists, walkers, and joggers are everywhere, and it's very easy to join in.
Finding an apartment, however, proved to be a challenge and turned out to be more difficult than expected.
Internship Abroad in Austria
Before I started my internship in Austria in a community setting, I first had a personal interview, during which I was able to get a first impression of the institution. In early September, I travelled by train from Magdeburg to Innsbruck.
On September 1, 2025, I started my internship. At first, I mainly took care of the children and helped them with their daily routines. Over time, I was able to support the parents more and more and assist them in their daily lives. This allowed me to learn not only a lot about the work at the facility, but also about how to handle different life situations. For me personally, the internship was an incredibly enriching experience. Living and working in a different country like Austria, meeting new people, and immersing myself in a new environment has given me so much.
I especially loved the natural surroundings. The mountains all around me made it really easy for me to settle in quickly and feel at home.
