Project description
The Diversity-Inclusion-Participation project at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences promotes international and intercultural skills among students and teachers.
You can find out exactly what we do and what we stand for below.
What is DIP?
In the context of increasing internationalisation of the region – either through global networking in industry or through the recruitment of foreign skilled workers—corresponding qualifications are expected in numerous fields of occupation. The ‚Diversity–Inclusion–Participation‘ (DIP) project, based in the Departments of Social Work, Health, and Media (SGM) and Applied Human Sciences (AHW) at the University of Applied Sciences in Magdeburg-Stendal, aims to promote the international and intercultural competences of students as future employees in suitable companies, organisations and institutions, as well as to promote the teaching staff and employees in the respective departments at the University of Applied Sciences in Magdeburg-Stendal.
The cross-regional and interdisciplinary project will provide an innovative range of courses for students (both incoming and home students), which will result in a structured and coordinated English-speaking semester (30 ECTS). The focus of this semester is on topics related to diversity, inclusion and participation. Students in SGM and AHW will have more options to choose from individual courses from other study programs or departments and to earn credit points.
At the same time, students at the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal will improve their English language skills and strengthen their intercultural competence, which will encourage their interest in outgoing mobility programmes. Furthermore, the thematic orientation will create a new and attractive range of courses for the purpose of increasing the number of incoming students and enhancing exchange with international partner universities through this thematic focus. It is intended to use the existing partner institutions and establish new partnerships in order to expand outgoing and incoming mobility für both students and staff.
Along with the offer of specific workshops and lectures tailormade for students, lecturers and staff, not only will the quality of the lectures be enhanced, but also the intercultural dialogue and the language skills among the lecturers, students and administrative staff. By continuously evaluating the project, a demand-oriented offer will be created for specific needs.
