Study and Thrive

A modern, warm-toned digital illustration in a flat style depicting a diverse group of university students in an inspiring, collaborative learning environment. One student is watering a plant symbolising personal growth, another is presenting an idea with a glowing light bulb, while two others are confidently working together with laptops and notepads in a relaxed, innovative learning space with modular furniture and green plants. One of the students is in a wheelchair. The background contains abstract elements that suggest well-being, self-directed learning and future skills – such as soft rays, tree rings and symbolic icons (e.g. brain, heart, gears). The scene should appear experimental, inclusive and future-oriented – without text, with a clear composition and harmonious colours.

What does a university look like where students can not only learn, but truly thrive? This is the question addressed by our new project, ‘Study and Thrive,’ funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education. The aim is to fundamentally redevelop the ‘educational architecture’ of our university in a way that it embraces the diversity of student lifestyle realities, promotes healthy study trajectories and enables self-determined learning.

In three innovation studios we develop new concepts, formats and structures – experimentally, practically and scientifically sound. From pilot modules and competitions to individual counselling services: we test what makes teaching better in the long term – and derive recommendations for the strategic further development of studies and teaching.
