German-as-a-foreign-language courses for internationals

Welcome to the teaching area "German as a Foreign Language"! We offer language courses at levels A1 to B2, based on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

General information

Placement test

To enrol on language courses at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, students are required to sit a placement test at the start of the relevant summer or winter semester.

The following are excluded...

Students who successfully passed a German as a Foreign Language (DaF) exam at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences or Otto von Guericke University in the previous semester (proof must be provided in the form of the original certificate).
Students who took part in the Late Summer School at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences in September, shortly before the start of the semester, and were assessed as part of this programme.
Students with no prior knowledge of German can register for the A1 course.

Fees

The German as a Foreign Language (DaF) courses are primarily aimed at international students, PhD students, visiting researchers and staff at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, and are free of charge for these groups.

The following fees apply to external participants:

Information about the language courses

Course format and venue

face-to-face classes at the Magdeburg campus or online classes, depending on the course offered with 1 x 2 / 2 x 2 / 3 x 2 or 4 x 2 lessons per week

The courses are managed via Projekte.Moodle. Therefore, participants must register to Projekte.Moodle. A description can be found further down on this page.

Assignments and enrolment in the courses is carried out by the DaF-coordination.

Group size

max. 18 persons (course starts with a group size of at least 5 participants)

Requirements for successful completion

Graded certificates of achievement will be issued free of charge at the end of the course upon successful and regular attendance -at least 75% attendance.

ECTS/Certificate

If all requirements are met, you can access your DaF grades in the electronic grade overview in the examination office. This only applies to students at University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal.
If all requirements are met, you will receive a graded certificate with a recommendation of the corresponding ECTS points.
If you do not meet the requirements, you will receive an ungraded certificate of attendance if you attend regularly.
If certificates are lost, we charge a fee of 20.00 EUR for the duplicate.
