On July 14, the big day has finally arrived:
We’re officially opening the fiction section at our library in Magdeburg at Bibo-Lounge on the 1st floor, featuring literature that entertains.
Celebrating this, from July 14th to July 18th there will be various events, where you can get creative and find inspiration by interacting with other interested people.
July 14, 2026, 4:00 p.m. Opening followed by Orimoto Workshop
********We will set up a small buffet for the opening ceremony.**********
Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at Orimoto, a Japanese book-folding technique. We’ll provide books suitable for folding.

July 15, 2026, 4:00 p.m. Knitting Workshop
We’re excited to welcome the team from Strick- & Nähcafé. They’ll bring all the required materials and supplies for your book-themed knitting project. All you need is a desire to do some crafts and a little cash for the supplies.

July 16, 2026, 4:00 p.m. Sprayed Edges Design
In this workshop, you’ll have the chance to give your favorite book a different look. A fancy color gradient, detailed patterns or something more simple? Design the book’s edge according to your own personal taste.
Please bring your own book. A hardcover is best. Books with pages made of glossy or photo paper are not suitable.

Do you want to give your books that special something and make them shine in a whole new light? Then join us in prettifying your favorite book cover.
All you need is one of your paperbacks and a little patience. We’ll provide rhinestones and glue for decorating.

Come join us on Saturday and escape the daily routine. We want to read together, relax, and, if you’d like, discuss literature. While you’re here, you can learn more about our fiction section, the library, and our upcoming book club.

Our motto is: People who read are dangerous!
That’s why we want to start our very first book club here at the library. You decide what we’ll read, when the meetings will take place, and what the book club’s name should be.
The important thing is to create a space that makes you comfortable, encourages reading, and inspires communication among the participants.
